Project Objective

This project is led by the University of Milano and is funded by the Comunità Montana di Valle Camonica. The project aims at describing the biodiversity and ecological webs of the Adamello glacier, the largest glacier of Italy.
General description
The biodiversity of the supraglacial environment of the Adamello glacier will be investigated by an integrated set of morphological and molecular methods. The research team includes microbiologists, ecologists, glaciologists, botanists and zoologists who are leading experts in glacial ecology and with a long experience in these kinds of studies. This project, together with the ColdCase project, will allow to expand our knowledge about supraglacial environments and their importance, in a global warming scenario where they likely will disappear in the near future.
